On arriving from Manchester for our first stay in Dublin, this hotel is in a great location, the decor and greeting we were met with were great. The room has tea and coffee facilties, and you can reuest a smoking/non smoking room, check out on the weekend, sunday is 11.30 am which proved useful after a night on the town. Check in was speedy and the room was clean and the quilts on the bed luxurious. Will definately be going back.
Could do with seats in lounge and bar area cleanede
Hotel was excellent value for money, all staff were very nice and helpful. The restaurant was top class. We are hoping for another visit to Dublin soon adn will definitely be picking the North Star. Thank you to all staff.
will go back nice hotel wish it was more central but is good
Excellent rooms, hotel bar is a great pub.Easy to get to via public transport or taxi.Friendly staff.Would stay here again, probably first choice for a hotel in the heart of Dublin.
Reception - up one floor so not easy for elderly visitors.Concierge/front of house - should offer his hotel welcome to all visitors and not just the pretty young females.Reception Staff - efficient, polite and courteous.Accomodation - spacious, comfortable and very well serviced.Management response to complaint - effective, efficient and laced with very good customer care skills.Facilities - resident`s lounge, good, - restaurant, poorly staffed and - bar, open to the general public with no residents only option.Proximity to City centre and public transport - excellent.
I was pleased with the room-it was clean and very nice. However the reception staff were extremely unhelpful and uncooperative when we discovered the reservation was wrong and the parking was a nightmare! One hour to get parked!
We stayed at the North Star for 4 days and had a lovely time. The restaurant in the hotel is lovely but the bar attached to the hotel is very grubby and dated. It is very much for locals. The difference between the hotel and the bar is like chalk and cheese. Could be much better. The hotel is situated not far from the centre of Dublin and is easy to get to by tram/bus etc. The rooms were very clean and the staff very nice.
Fantastic Irish breakfast, would definatly stay again, central location..
bedroom was as good as the photos ..lovely quiet room with everything i expected
Only stayed for one night but rooms were clean and tidy and the bar was cool. This hotel has got some shocking reviews on Trip advisor lately but I thought it was absolutely fine. It is a bit of a stretch to say it is within walking distance of "where the action is" but the trams run from just outside and there is a shuttle bus to the airport. Staff were all friendly too.
clean, friendly, food good quality would use again when in dublin
We got rooms at a great price, we were not expecting too much due to the affordable price but were hugeley surprised and happy. The rooms were comfortable, clean and well supplied with trouser press, tea and coffee facilities, toiletries, hairdryer and an iron on request. Reception staff were helpful and friendly and someone always available if we had questions. Breakfast was nice and plentiful, just what you need to start a day in Dublin. As for Ciaran the concierage gentleman, he was very helpful and a wonderful personality, thank you.
hotel was clean quiet and the staff were helpful. enjoyed our stay and the get together with the other holiday makers who we met in the very socialble residents lounge.
This hotel was clean and very central. However the walls are like paper so you can hear everything above, below and next door to the room. We were unlucky to have noisey people staying above us and the (night-time) reception were not very helpful. It is also located next to a station so early morning noise is also considerable.
car park arrangements werent the best - very small and costly 13 euro for one night.room and general hotel were ok. the room could be doing with a redo but generally alright. breakfast was 10euro each and was top class.nice stay for one night.
I really enjoied my stay at the North Star HOtel and found the city centre location great value for money.
Good location. Clean room. Friendly Staff. Would stay there again.
very nice stay, friendly hotel staff, near to bus station and all ameneties.
The hotel was really comfortable and homely. The staff were friendly and hospitable. Most importantly for me was the convenience. A short walk from Busaras and Connolly Station.
Excellent service, fantastic room with complementry upgrade
stayed 16th nov 09 for 3 nights , we arrived 3 hours early 11.30 and asked if we could leave our case even better we were allowed into our room. The room was of good standard every thing you needed and quiet at night . Then the next morning for breakfast the food was excellent juice, cereal, toast and full breakfast buffet you could fill your plates brill. The hotel location opp Connolly st train station and round corner 5/10 min walk along Talbot st you end up at the Spire on Oconnell st.
good location next 2 bus station n city centre friendly staff
Very clean and quiet. Friendly and helpful staff!! Most excellent shuttle bus service to muse gig!! Only slight gripe is having to pay for wifi! Will stay there again!!
THE HOTEL IS BASIC NEEDS REFURBISH, RECEPTION WAS IN THE 2ND FLOOR NO LIFT YOU WILL CARRY YOUR LUGGAGE GOING TO RECEPTION WHICH IS NOT GOOD FOR ELDERLY AND DISABLED. HOTEL CHARGE 3 EURO IF YOU WILL LEAVE YOUR LUGGAGE TO THEM FOR A COUPLE OF HOURS.PARKING SPACE NOT ENOUGH FOR HOTEL GUEST. HOTEL IS NOT ADVISABLE FOR YOUNG COUPLES AND HONEYMOONERS. EVEN THOUGH THE HOTEL IS OLD IT IS CLEAN AND MAINTAINED.
Stayed there for its proximity to temple bar etc, about 10 mins drunken walk. It was vey clean and tidy. the only thing to watch out for is the proximity to the train line. The reception desk is in a vaulted hall between the santions of the viaduct above!
The Hotel is pleasant enough but one of our parties spectacles went missing and I felt the response from the staff was very poor and not in the least helpful to the situation. Also we enquired if we could leave our travel cases and were told that it was a 3euro charge per bag quite excessive for 2 hours and with 5 people in our party quite expensive
The hotel had been recently refurbished and was nicely decorated. Room was very basic, can`t comment on food as we did not eat there, only because we were running the Marathon and there was no point. The room we were in was next to the heating system which made the corridor very warm, the noise emanating from it was horrendous, however when asked the staff did turn it off. To sum up this hotel, it is ok for a short stay but I would much prefer to be nearer the city centre.
i think you need to fix the balcony paving stones as this is where i hurt my foot apart from that i think its a lovley hotel and emma made a good job of my room
I`m sorry to say but the reception floor and our bedroom on the 4th floor smelled of damp! Also the main TV in the lounge area did not work and one of the sinks was disconnected. The car parking area is totally inadequate for the Size of Hotel
very enjoyable stay, would reccomend to friends
rooms were very clean and service excellent throughout
Hi,We had a great stay at the North Star Hotel. The staff and Concierge were great as they arranged a cake for our friends 40th birthday etc. The only downside was the that the McCoys bar was a bit shabby compared to the high standard of the rest of the hotel. The bar could do with a lick of paint and new tables to bring it up to scratch. Other than that no complaints and not too far from the Temple Bar area.
