"Excellent staff and good location"

Bedroom and bathroom were a bit smaller than I unexpected and the bathroom was a bit rundown, but for the centre of London at the price I should not have been surprised. Staff were friendly and effective and the location excellent for walking to the the heart of London.

"room not ready"

We arrived at the hotel at 1830, the check in is from 1500 our room was not ready, we were asked to sit and wait while they sorted it. I said this was unaceptable and they put us in a different room.Rooms a little small but clean and smart

"Friendly central and reasonable"

The staff were welcoming and friendly. The location was quiet and very convenient - mid way between Piccadilly , Leicester Square and Trafalgar Square. The price was was more reasonable than other hotels nearby.The hotel is non-smoking now. The bedroom was spacious with a bed the width of three pillows.

Real problem with the bathroom. Tiles chipped/broken. No hot water at 23.00 hours. Water flow almost just a trickle. Very disappointing from a chain I always try to use.

"Excellent holiday at Royal Trafalgar"

We enjoyed our holiday and were tempted to upgrade our room for £20 per night. Our room was not ready and we were impressed by the room offered on the 4th floor. Everything was clean and fresh and very satisfactory. Staff were helpfu and friendly. I wish now we had checked the standard room as I expect it was just as good as the one we paid more for. However, we really enjoyed our stay although the chocolate on the pillow was rather elusive - only made an appearance once! Thanks, we will recommend, and certainly come again.

"Really excellent staff, good value, standard hotel."

We had a good stay and there were no problems at all. The staff were welcoming and friendly; the food was good value and fresh; a great location; no problems. It is not a five star hotel of course but for the price it was wonderful. It has everything you could want - plus a great location in the heart of things.

"Would have been good, but for the room stunk of cigarette smoke."

We booked online for a room for two adults and one child, when we checked in the only room suitable was a smoking room.When I mentioned the smell to Reception i was told that this was the only room available for the three of us.This was not made clear to us when we booked online, if it was we would have booked elsewhere. I have my own company and travel the UK and Europe, staying in many Hotels, I was surprised the Thistle Group allow smoking in their hotels. Otherwise the Hotel was quite good, but we will not book with your Company in future, as we have no problem with smokers, but do not want to stay in a hotel that smells of stale tobacco.

The food is particularly good, we stayed for Christmas day and the lunch was great, its on the door step of London...a great great location, right in between trafalgar square and leicester square

"Different Hotel"

When we arrived at the Thistle Trafalger, we were told, due to Computer problems they were overbooked and had no rooms. They offered us a room at the Thistle Piccadily instead. We didn`t have much choice at this stage, so had to take that. Please investigate, as not happy!

"Hotel Direct Booking was not recognised by hotel"

After finally checking-in for a business meeting the next day, the hotel was OK. The hotel did not honour the Hotel Direct offer of complimentary breakfast either. However, the location is good with Leicester Square, Trafalgar Square, China Town and Covent Garden within a 5 minute walk. Car parking available across the road for £35 for 24hours.

"Stuffed up my reservation"

I am speaking to you directly about this hotel, but after confirming both with yourselves and the hotel numerous times that I needed 3 nights and that the first night I would not check in until early the next morning (due to overseas flights), when I got to the hotel they did not have my first nights room for me and I still had to pay for 3 nights accomodation (even though I only stayed for 2 becuase they couldn`t provide me with a room when I arrived). Appalling in my mind !!

"Rock hard pillows, hidden tea tray, VERY expensive room service and bar"

We rejected our first room which although refurbished, still stank of cigarettes, as did the whole of the 3rd floor - and we specifically requested a non-smoking room. The tea tray was hidden away in a drawer and the pillows are really the hardest I have ever felt. The second room was clean and the staff polite and helpful. For some reason there are false low ceilings in the bathroom which make showering awkward for anyone over 5`5"

Friendly staff, clean rooms. The bathroom was not upto the standard I would expect from a Thistle. Breakfast should also be included in the price. Otherwise good.

" A WELL POSITIONED HOTEL IN CENTRE OF CITY NEAR TO ALL AMENITIES."

Our second time at this hotel ,We were not dissapointed by its standard .However we found the rates a little high for our budget as pensioners,and the meal prices were pricey too. Still we would use this hotel again as its standard is high.

"Double room booked not available. TV did not work. Dinner payment ."

Room and TV problems above were compensated for but provision of what was originally offered would have been much better as doubt existed as to what else might have gone wrong had the stay been longer. Dinner taken for 3 people but no mechanism through booking via agent for this to be added automatically to bill. Phone call at 11pm from restaurant asking me to come downstairs to pay not appreciated.
