The hotel was beautiful, the service was excellent. Unfortunately, the rooms tended to be on the small side to the point where we were offered breakfast in our room, however, with only one chair in the corner, felt it was unsuitable. We were also put into a smoking room which wasn`t overly pleasant. The hotel was fully booked so we were unable to change rooms. The location was fantastic, just a short walk away from theatreland and covent garden.
Enjoyable stay at the Montague Hotel. Good place to stay and exceedingly friendly and helpful staff. Be prepared for a wait at breakfast if the hotel is busy but coffee, orange juice and newspapers are available while you whet your appetite.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Montague. The staff were incredibly efficient and helpful. Our room was upgraded and had been recently refurbished to an excellent standard. I would definitely return or recommend this hotel.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Montague. A very elegant hotel, that is almost `crisp` it`s that clean. It has a lovely atmosphere and staff were very helpful. Will definitely stay again.
From the moment our party of three adults stepped out of the taxi on arrival to our departure two days later, the staff of the Montague (on the garden) made us feel so comfortable and relaxed. The staff were courteous, friendly, enthusiastic (but not overly). The hotel is truly a wonderful old world hotel with exquisite furnishings so delicately matched. We particularly enjoyed arriving back to the very comfortable lounge area in the evening after theatre and listening to the superb pianist (with vocals) play on the grand piano. Our room (a triple) which was very comfortable and well decorated again in old world charm was a little on the small side but did not take from our overall satisfaction of the hotel. Breakfast was delicious with a good choice. The hotel though very busy did not feel crowded. On the down side the extras such as drinks at the bar were quite expensive. I have already recommend this hotel to my friends.
always a pleasure to stay here
This hotel was lovely and the staff were fantastic, very helpful and friendly. One thing that was not so good was the room size.......it was REALLY small. We were told we had been upgraded (which sounded great) but as we entered our room we were surprised at the size. If this was an upgrade I dread to think about the size of the regular twin rooms. If you don`t mind a small room, the hotel was super! Would definately return to this hotel.
stayed in room 29 could do with some shelf storage in wardrobe as no drawer space in room
Service was excellent, the staff were very friendly and courteous. Facilities were of high quality and immaculately clean. Great location too!
My daughter commented that she felt her room was like a quiet cosy nest!
Everything about the Montague is class. The staff are attentative without being intrusive and the whole place has ambience. All modern facilities with an old fashioned view to service - a rareity in todays climate and very much appreciated. Thank you for a lovely stay we will be back.
Excellent friendly service, very comfortable attractive rooms, good menu, convenient location. It was, as advertised, like a country hotel in the city centre.
We had a fabulous stay at the hotel, the staff were so helpful and polite. I would recommend anyone to stay there.
We wanted to go somewhere a bit special for a long weekend in London as we had booked a show. We are a family of 5 so needed two rooms! The hotel was luxurious and staff were very helpful but we found the snacks, drinks and one evening meal extremely expensive for five of us. Never mind, you have to treat yourselves sometime! Breakfast was very good and adults could easily eat enough to keep yourselves going until ready for an evening meal. The kids loved it and enjoyed the treat. We were able to leave our luggage with the concierage after checking out which allowed us the customary shopping sessions before returning to the hotel and collecting our bags for onward train journey home.
An excellent hotel - quiet but convenient to theatres, shopping and musuems etc.. Good restaurant standard and terrace ideal in good weather. Good for parking on street. The food service at breakfast on a weekend could be greatly improved
Lovely hotel, friendly and helpful staff. Spotless throughout. Comfortable, individually styled rooms. Would definately stay here again when visiting London. Excellent breakfast, coffee especially good.
We had a lovely time at the Montague. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The room was excellent, clean and the decoration was lovely. The whole hotel had a very nice atmosphere and would highly recommend the hotel to anyone considering a stay in London.
Staff at this hotel were generally excellent (particularly the bar and restaurant staff) however, the exceptionally small rooms (even by central London standards) made it difficult to feel comfortable in. Two other small but very annoying points; whilst I enjoyed the comfort and ambience of the bar during the evening, I feel to only offer large malt whiskies as opposed to single shots, is rather making the most of a captive audience, and my other point concerns breakfast issues. Our first two mornings we were served good food with great attitude, days three and four were rather different. Despite numerous requests to toast bread on both sides, we eventually gave up trying to make the point, and opted instead for some boiled eggs. 25 minutes later they arrived as I was on the point of cancelling altogether. Those points aside I generally enjoyed my stay, however I do not feel I would rush to book again when next I am in London.
Excellent location, attentive staff, beautiful building. We had a twin room with it`s own patio and very pleasant outlook. Good outside space and plenty of sitting rooms.
food a little overpriced but good ,a bit dissapointed in the bedroom ,very small, would have liked somthing larger, but overall a lovely hotel.
If anything the service was a bit overbearing - they are obviously well trained for the American market!
I stayed for one night for my daughters end of exams treat- to catch a show and stay in a lovely hotel. The show was fantastic and the hotel was wonderful. Staff were really friendly and so helpful. The room was lovely, well equiped and really clean. Breakfast was delicious too. Thank you.
This is one of the best hotels we`ve ever stayed at. The rooms were amazing as was the rest of the hotel. Staff were very polite but not intrusive. We had a pre-theatre evening meal and breakfast which were both sublime, soem breakfast items were a little slow to be refreshed but everything was perfectly cooked and very tasty. This hotel made our special occaision extra special and we will definately use it again when in london.
