The room was adequate, but the shower screen was dirty (rusty colour) around the seal both on the inside and outside of the screen. We stayed in room 420.

Had a great stay at this hotel the room was nice and as described but what made my stay perfect was the staff. They are the some of the most friendly and helpful people I have ever met in a hotel, nothing was too much trouble. Next time I go to Barcelona, I know where i`m staying! 10/10

The hotel was fantastic, room really spacious & clean. Lots of bathroom products which is very nice. The staff were vey helpful. Only downside was that there was no tea or coffee making facilities in the room.

The member of staff that checked us in provided very useful information throughout our stay and was always happy to help. The room was very nicely furnished and clean. The little pool on the roof with the area above to sit in was very handy at the end of the afternoon when you are hot from walking around the city. The only negative comment is that the bath was very slippery after having a shower.

Our stay was very enjoyable. Hotel was clean throughout and staff were courteous and helpful. We weren`t over impressed with the the buffet breakfast. The choice was limited and overpriced. We ate out after the first morning. Our room did not have a window to view outside the hotel which was disconcerting. There was a window which opened on to an enclosed shaft contai ing pipework which let in a little light but offered no view other than another three tiled walls, a bit odd.

just a few steps to the metro and you can go anywhere, not the prettiest area but so convenient. The hotel was between good & excellent there were a few things that you could moan about but it was overall very good. One tip buffett brilliant restaurant food tried once awful

The hotel was close to the main las ramblas it was very clean and the staff did look after you, nothing was too much trouble. My only criticism is that with us having a room on the Main Street it was very noisy right through the night, it must be on the main hospital route because the sirens went off every night. I am sure if you get a room at the back of the hotel it would be a lot better. We would go back to that hotel again but we would request a room at the back of the hotel.

Nice clean hotel would highly recommend. They only thing I didn`t like wan not having a window.

This would have been an excellent rating if the restaurant menu changed daily and coffee making facilities had been provided.

We did have a small problem with lack of electricity but the staff sorted this out and compensated us in a sufficient way. There was a bit of noise from the busy street so maybe ask for a room at the back of the hotel. The breakfast wasn`t included in our particular rate and we found the 15 euro charge per person a bit over the top. However, overall the rooms were clean and very nice and it was a comfortable stay. The area is nice and close by to local sights.

Good hotel with good sized rooms with quite air con , good sized bathroom with shower all well maintained. great location @10mins from Ramblas , main street is lively so rooms at front can be noisy , we had an interior room (no view) but room was nice and quiet . We travelled with 4 other couples who also thought hotel was good. Breakfast was okay with choice of hot and cold foods , can be busy at popular times but staff cleared tables quickly to ensure wait not too long. Lots of street cafes , bars outside hotel and area very safe to walk around. Went to senyor paradella restaurant , fantastic food and very good prices.

A friendly and welcoming staff on check in, excellently appointed rooms with daily service and overall a very pleasant stay was had by all of our party of 6.

We found the Hotel to be very pleasant. The beds were comfortable and the linen was clean. The staff were very helpful in guiding you to attractions etc, There was an issue with the pool initially but this was fixed within 2 days.Very good location within walking distance of the harbour and las Ramblas. Would Highly recommend

We stayed at the Hotel for 2 nights from 3rd to 5th August on a Hen Weekend. Rooms excellent, clean, spacious and with no noise issues.Far enough away from the Ramblas but within easy walking distance.Staff friendly and helpful at all times and communicating with them was relatively easy given our lack of Spanish dialect.A little disappointed that the Pool Bar closed fairly early but maybe they have established that demand for it to be open later wasn`t required.Overall would recommend to anyone staying in Barcelona and if I ever make a return trip I would be happy to stay there again.

Excellent hotel in terms of metro transport -- Metro station is just outside the hotel and can get you anywhere around the city in no time at all, which is brilliant...also, the hotel service is a 5* plus, very polite, helpful and considerate...about the room, nice, comfort and it has everything you would expect from a 4* hotel...however, I did notice that the room cleaning service is a bit lower than expected - e.g., we had some snacks the night before and noticed the following day that sofa/chair were still covered with some crumps...that`s the only downside for us.

For the entire party of 6, we would all definitely stay here when we return to Barcelona. Service is fantastic, hotel is very comfortable and any requirements we had were fulfilled immediately. A fantastic hotel!

We chose this Hotel as a stop over before joining our cruise ship. It has a superb location, near the `Ramblas` and Port. English speaking staff very helpful and rooms very clean and comftable. We had a room at the front which had a bit of traffic noise... No tea/coffee facilities in the room but overall very good value for money. Would choose this again on next Barcelona trip.

We had an enjoyable stay at the Universal Hotel. It is a convenient location, however, road noise is a problem in the rooms. The breakfast is awful - extremely over priced for very poor quality food.
